Over 30 years of electric motor and control experience combined with amazing customer service is what makes Maurice’s Mod Shop one of a kind.  Bob Plank builds and modifies starters to meet your specific needs.  Bob’s starters are rewired with color-coded wires to make instillation easier, and each starter is tested before leaving our shop to make sure there are no surprises in the field.  Last year our Mod Shop went one step further to receive a UL508 listing.  Now every starter that leaves our shop has a UL listing.  Having a UL listing sets us apart from our competitors, and makes your job easier.  Bob relays this story, which spurred Maurice to get a UL listing;

“One of our contractors ordered 14 combination motor starters for a job they were doing in Fairfax County .  These were standard fused units with control power transformer, HOA, and red and green pilot lights.  WE build this same unit day after day.  The county electrical inspector visited the job after these units were wired in.  He would not let the contractors energize the units because there was no UL sticker for the entire assembled starter, even though all components were UL listed for field assembly. 

     We were made to jump through hoops to try to comply with the inspectors’ wishes.  Letters from the manufacturers did absolutely no good.  Eventually we had the manufacturer talk to the local UL office before it was ironed out.  We came within two days of when a substantial penalty would be issued to the contractor.”

The point of this recount is that with Maurice’s UL508 certification, these problems are a thing of the past!
